Song View Understanding YouTube Data

NOTE: Ingrooves’ Trends shows overall YouTube user consumption, which may include revenue and non-revenue generating plays. The data provided by Digital Service Providers (DSPs) shown in Trends Now is intended to indicate current trends, not final sales. DSPs typically perform audits and verifications before providing final end-of-month sales reports, so those reports may differ from what they previously reported in trend data.

This section provides definitions for the YouTube terms used in Trends Now. YouTube houses numerous types of content, which have been organized into the following categories.

Supporting Detail and Examples

Audio Streaming/Art Track

Audio-specific content that includes art tracks. An art track, also known as Official Audio, consists of the sound recording and the album art. Includes streaming on YouTube Music.

Music Video

Video and audio content that includes official music videos, remixes, and lyric videos.

Official music videos, remixes, and lyric videos appear here if the content is managed by Ingrooves through its partner network. If the video content is not managed by our network, official videos or lyric videos will not show up in this bucket.

Premium UGC

Video content that is managed by partner networks other than Ingrooves' partner network.

Video content uploaded by a third party that contains copyrighted segments that meet the length and proportionality requirements to be treated the same as partner-provided licensed content.

UGC

Users who upload their own video versions that include content you own. Includes non-partner network content uploaded to official artist sources.

Video content uploaded by a third party that contains content that you own as determined by a Content ID match or a manual claim. The match policy associated with that claim determines where and how the video is available on YouTube.

Plays

The total number of plays or views by individuals who watched 30 seconds or more of a song's video.

This metric includes individuals who are either channel subscribers or not subscribed to the channel where the content was uploaded.

Subscriber Plays

The total number of plays or views by channel subscribers who watched 30 seconds or more of a song's video. This metric provides information about how many of the plays or views are from individuals who have subscribed to the channel where the content was uploaded. Channel subscribers are individuals who show specific interest in the content provided through the channel.

Average Watch %

Estimated average of how much of the video was watched, expressed as a percentage. For a particular video, how much of the video was watched on average? This metric provides a level of user engagement of how far users are watching a video. A high percentage indicates users are engaged in watching the content through versus a low percentage where the content is stopped early on.
