Finding a Smart Audience

A key step to Smart Audience advertisements is finding the Smart Audience itself. The Smart Audience is used as the targeting group for your ads, and it's determined using streaming data to find people who are highly likely to stream your music.

When creating your Smart Audience ad, we'll first ask you what piece of content you're promoting with the ad (typically a single or album). Once we know that, we can tell if that specific content meets the minimum requirements* for use in finding a Smart Audience. If the track you're advertising does meet the minimum requirements for use in finding a Smart Audience then that's ideal, and we'll automatically analyze that track to determine your Smart Audience.

If the track you're advertising does not meet the minimum requirements for use in finding a Smart Audience, then that's perfectly fine! You can still create an ad to promote that track (what you selected in step1 of the ad creation process), but we'll ask you to search and select 1 to 3 other tracks from your Ingrooves-distributed catalog for us to analyze, so we can generate your Smart Audience (the targeting group for your ad). Typically we recommend selecting the most popular track(s) or a recent single from the advertised artist. You can also select a popular track from a very similar artist in your catalog, which will result in that track's most engaged listeners being targeted in your advertisement.

*Minimum track requirements for use in finding a Smart Audience are:

- Track analyzed must be at least 4 weeks old
- Track analyzed must have at least 2,000 active plays over the past 8 weeks
